Can you name the movie where I borrowed the title from? I changed it from $25 to $40 to make it work for the purposes of the post, but it's still a great quote.
I've been meaning to post about this for a while now. I just never do. And, to warn you, you're in for another sappy Amber blog post (boy, I'm turning into my father). So, over the holidays, as the Christmas cards began to pour in, one card in particular caught my attention. Why? Because someone sent us $40. No name, no message, no return address. Just some puppies wearing Santa hats, $40 cash, and a post mark from Boise. So, I know it was local. Immediately, my mind turned to the Christmas before. I had just finished all my surgeries and treatments and we had a mountain of medical bills to pay off. Being self-employed and self-insured, this debt was an area of much concern and worry. We didn't have $20,000 extra dollars. Heck, some months we don't even get to pay ourselves. But somehow, the Lord always provides. This particular Christmas, He answered our pleas through friends, family, the ward and anonymous persons. I don't think you can even begin to imagine the money that magically ended up on our doorstep or in our mailbox every day that Christmas season. Sometimes, more than once a night, we would hear a knock at the door only to open it (like 4 seconds later) with no one there, just a jar or an envelope filled with cash or coins. One night, someone left $500 in a jar at our door. Another night, it was a jar filled with over $80 in coins. I cried and cried over the coins (seriously, I cry all the time now). In my heart I knew that there were children involved in that donation sacrificing and working hard for my family. I seriously started to feel a little guilty. Surely there were more desperate people in need. I look back now and I know we would have been staring at bankruptcy had it not been for these tender mercies. I know I've said it a million times, but I'm going to keep saying it: Thank you. Thank you for your love, your time and your sacrifice. Thank you to whomever sent us the $40 this Christmas. Not only do we still have medical bills (New ones. Fortunately, a lot smaller than last year. Oh, they're so fun.), but it was a powerful reminder of a magical Christmas past.

The generosity of others leaves me speechless sometimes. Thank heavens for those people! Literally, heaven sent. I have No doubt you would do the same if you were in their shoes. What a sweet reminder of the goodness of people, and the goodness of God.
p.s. they went to Oahu ;)
LOVE this post <3
