"I EM A BAD BOY - SAMUEL W"
The phrase "This hurts me more than it hurts you" comes to mind. I found this posted to Sam's bedroom door last night. It pretty much killed me (the crying boy at the bottom is a nice touch). Last night the kids went to bed late after a very full day. Sam could not contain himself at family prayer and basically rolled all over and hit his sister. His punishment: No book at bedtime (which is like the worst thing you can do). He started crying and shaking uncontrollably and would not be consoled. He also got down in the dumps on himself about how he was such a bad boy. After explaining that he was not a bad boy but only made a bad choice, I spent a good ten minutes relaying all the wonderful things he did that day (and there were many). He looked at me and said, "You won't think I'm good anymore when I tell you this...I'm sorry to tell you, you're almost out of snowman wrapping paper". To clarify, Sam had used up almost an entire roll of wrapping paper making Christmas presents for friends and family. Nothing made me happier than to think he had used up a whole roll trying to do nice things for others. So, in the end, he took out his frustrations on paper, went to bed, and woke up same ole' happy Sam. Love that kid.

What a sweet story. Thanks for sharing. I love the way you handled his tantrum. Loved that he confessed about the wrapping paper! Haha! He is such a sweet boy and you are such a wonderful mother!
Oh, that sweet sweet boy! Life is so hard when you are young, truly.
