It's been 7 hours, 5 minutes, and 34 seconds roughly since Noelle became binky free. This, so far, has equated to: no nap today (just a lot of goofing around in her room), six requests for binky during the afternoon (she only got binky for sleep anyway), and a whole lotta screaming currently (bedtime). Wait...there's gagging. She's NOT happy. But, small price to pay to significantly reduce the chance of SIDS.

Okay so this may be a stupid question, but does sids risk increase with age? I'm trying to get my 2.5 year old off the binky.

The thing that worked for Hannah was to cut the ends off the binkies and then give them to her. I didn't care if she held them or had them, she tried to suck on one, told me it was broken and threw it away. We did that will all the binkies and it worked great. She had had them only for sleeping, but seriously- no drama or trauma because they just didn't work anymore. She didn't think I was keeping them from her or anything. Maybe a tiny bit sad that they were broken, but it no 1000x easier than I would have guessed. She still sleeps well and takes naps most days- though that took a week or so.
