As some of you may already know, we are still waiting for one more signature from a possible birth father before Noelle Joy can be ours for certain. After several attempts to contact him, a court date was set to terminate his rights and if he didn't show up, the termination would have been automatic. Yesterday, he showed up to court with his mother. This sends up a big, red flag for us. Although birth parent's parents don't have rights, they do have major sway. I don't think a 20-something year-old male who originally wanted the baby aborted would want to be responsible for a newborn girl, but I do think a grandmother with "grandbaby lust" would. He is asking for a paternity test and said if he was the biological father, he is 95% certain he would support our adoption. The fact that he is at all uncertain and that his mother was present is cause for concern. We are asking for your prayers or fasting (this Sunday is fast Sunday) on our behalf. We would be absolutely crushed is Noelle was taken from us. I don't even want to think about it. We are desperately hoping the DNA test comes back negative or that his heart and his mother's heart will be softened. Noelle wouldn't be here with us today if it wasn't for everyone's prayers. Oh Amber, I am aching right there for you. I can tell you the fear we have had as well with Kassie. I was in such fear thinking that someone could come take this little baby away from us. We can definately feel your pain. Fast and prayer is the best action you can take. But if you felt this baby from the beginning is yours she will stay were she belongs with you. We will be thinking of you.
